On Saturday Toby, myself and the kids went aboard the Skeena Train with Via Rail from Prince George to Jasper to stay one night. Below is a picture of the engine that took us from Prince George to Jasper.
Here is a family shot of the four of us in the dome car of the train. Weather on our way to Jasper was EXCELLENT. Sun was shining and sky was clear. To top off our trip we had the train all to ourselves! Levi had a blast wandering around.
Levi and Toby had fun playing with toys and watching for wildlife. We had the pleasure of seeing many eagles on the river.
VIA Rail still delivers the mail to Penny, BC so of course we had to get our picture taken when we stopped. So below is me (Penny) and my two boys in Penny, BC
With such great weather heading into Jasper we had a great view of Mount Robson
The dome car was too bright for Landen most of the time so I brought him here to the couch for a while. He loved it, I had him laying on the couch while I ate lunch and he layed there with tons of smiles talking away. Our attendant just fell in love with him.
Below is an old engine parked in Jasper and Levi had to get his picture taken with it as it was just huge.
When in Jasper we stayed at the Jasper Park Lodge. Below we went for a family walk before dinner. The lodge is beautiful and if you have never been I highly reccomend it. They have a lake there (as seen below) and we were lucky enough to have our room with a full view of the lake and the mountains. Beautiful is all I can say.
The trip was a great family getaway and we hope to do it again. Other places we would like to travel would be across Canada as well as PG to Prince Rupert. Our attendant Tracy said the PG to Prince Rupert trip is the most beautiful. She has been working with VIA rail for 29 years and she chose this route to work on as it is her favourite. She resides in Kelowna and comes here for her working shift of 13 days straight. I had a great time visiting with Tracy. I discovered what a small world especially in the train industry. We were chatting and I told her I was raised mostly in North Bend and Boston Bar, she mentioned how she used to love stopping there to buy pies in the early 80's from the beanery. That put a smile on my face as my Grandpa Roy made those pies then, the same Grandpa Roy Landen received his middle name from. It was a special trip with many memories and I look forward to our next family trip together.

That looks cool. You can also come down our way.. I believe it is the same railway.. How much was that trip. I would love to do it with the kids. They would love it..
ReplyDeleteI'm with Tracy - it is one of VIA's most spectacular routes! Sounds like you had a great trip. Love the Penny shot, btw...
